How to Issue a Foal Passport?

Your veterinarian will microchip the foal. The microchip must have a numerical series corresponding to the country where the foal was born.

The veterinarian will confirm the "Form - Foal Microchip Identification" (available for download here).

Also, ask the veterinarian to take a DNA sample (about 50 hairs) from the foal. If you don't have the dam's DNA available, a sample must also be taken from the dam!

Then send the following to the studbook:

BY POST:

- Covering sheet (issued by the stallion owner at the time of covering the mare)

- "Form - Foal Microchip Identification" (completed and confirmed by the veterinarian, including stickers with the chip number)

- DNA sample(s) along with the completed request form HERE (if you wish to process the DNA through a Czech laboratory. In this case, you will be the owner of the DNA, the lab will send you an invoice for the processing, and the results will be emailed to both you and the studbook).

BY EMAIL:

- 3 photos of the foal (left side, right side, and front view, see EXAMPLE HERE)

- The result of the DNA parentage verification from the laboratory (if you arranged the DNA processing through your own lab)

SUMMARY:

1) COVERING SHEET

2) CONFIRMATION OF MICROCHIPPING AND CHIP STICKERS

3) PARENTAGE (PARENTS VERIFIED BY DNA FROM THE LABORATORY)

4) PHOTOS

Once we have these four documents, it takes approximately two weeks to issue the passport.

Attention!! Both the sire and dam of the foal must be registered with ICS Czechia!!!

= The SIRE has passed the ICS CZ Inspection

= The DAM has either passed the ICS CZ Inspection or met the conditions listed below

1) The requirements for the Dam of the Foal

a) The dam is registered (completed inspection at ICS CZ) - simply send the "Foal Registration" form.

b) The dam is registered in the main section of a sister foreign ICS studbook (at the age of 3 years or older, she obtained a Premium at a sister studbook ICS by December 31, 2019. ICS CZ then recognizes the Premium from the foreign Inspection. If this is not the case, the exception of the RPK ICS CZ does not apply, and the mare must complete inspection at ICS CZ to obtain the Premium).

You must provide the original zootechnical certificate (Part I+II), a copy of the certificate from the Inspection, and fill out the form "Application for Registration/Entry into the IC Studbook" (online form HERE).

c) The dam is registered in the auxiliary section (BASIC) of a sister foreign ICS studbook.

If the mare meets these requirements, you need to provide a copy of the certificate from the Inspection and fill out the form "Application for Registration/Entry into the IC Studbook" (online form HERE).

d) The dam is registered in the main section of a sister foreign ICS studbook, but does not have a premium. Send us a scanned copy of the passport, the original zootechnical certificate (Part I+II), and the form "Application for Registration/Entry into the IC Studbook" (online form HERE) - we will address any further circumstances individually.

e) The dam is not registered in any ICS Studbook. In this case, the foal cannot be registered as an Irish Cob. If you believe the mare meets the requirements for registration in the IC Studbook, contact the RPK ICS CZ at irishcob@irishcob.cz. The simplest solution is to attend the Inspection with the mare and foal, where we can register the mare in the ICS CZ Studbook and take care of all necessary paperwork for issuing the foal's passport.

2) The requirements for the Sire of the Foal

THE STALLION IS REGISTERED IN THE ICS CZ STUDBOOK!

You must always provide a valid covering certificate!

The covering certificate will be issued by the stallion's owner.

IMPORTANT: Always ensure that the stallion has breeding authorization for the relevant year before covering the mare! If your mare was covered by a foreign stallion, you need to provide the foreign covering certificate along with the stallion’s zootechnical certificate according to EU Regulation 2016/1012.

3) Within 30 days of the foal's birth, register this event with the Studbook using this form:

Online form available on the website HERE

If you need to send any documents other than by email, please use the Zásilkovna service if possible. If sending by post, please send as a regular letter, not by registered mail!

Foals must have their horse passports issued before leaving the farm where they were born, but no later than 12 months from the date of birth. If this deadline is not met, a duplicate horse passport will be issued according to the applicable legislation, and the cost will be significantly higher!

Fees associated with foal identification, issuing the horse passport, etc., can be found in the price list HERE. Once the passport is completed, it will be sent to your address either after prepayment or via cash on delivery.
